The LoadDown - 04/04/2011

April fools, but downloads rule...

WiiWare -- Once again we see one new title and one free demo of an existing release.  Planet Fish is a visually attractive fish "hunting" (collecting) game with puzzle elements.  There's also a demo of A Monsteca Corral: Monsters vs. Robots.

Wii Virtual Console -- One new title that I have never played and might have to pick up: Hudson Soft's Super Bonk, which continued the adventures of the TurboGrafx/PC Engine caveman hero on the Super NES.

DSiWare -- Three new titles.  Anonymous Notes Chapter 1- From the Abyss is a Rogue-like RPG with randomly generated maps and dungeons.  A Fairy Tale is a lighthearted puzzler with a fantasy storyline.  Absolute Baseball is a baseball management simulation, more strategy-oriented than the usual baseball videogame.

XBox Live Arcade -- Three new titles on the wire as of last week.  Islands of Wakfu is an action-adventure game based on the MMORPGs DOFUS and Wakfu (which I hadn't heard of, but I'm not an MMO player.)  Strania - The Stella Machina is a new, retro-style hardcore bullet-hell arcade shooter with a look reminiscent of Ikaruga.  And Rush'n Attack: Ex-Patriot also arrives on XBLA, see the PS3 description below.

PS3 on PSN -- Four new titles this week.  Chime Super Deluxe updates the indie music/rhythm/puzzler game with some new features.  Moon Diver is a side-scrolling Japanese platformer, featuring an epic story of ninjitsu and mythic forces of judgment on a global scale.  Rush'n Attack: Ex-Patriot updates Konami's venerable 80's action title (a.k.a. Green Beret outside North America) while retaining the basic gameplay style, in 2.5-D High Definition.  And (apparently exclusive to PSN Plus subscribers) Sonic the Hedgehog is the Genesis classic, in straight-up emulated form with trophies added.

PSOne Classics -- Still quiet here, for about six weeks running now... but I'll keep checking for signs of life.
